Bath University
Bath University field three teams in the Bristol and West League, a first and second senior mens sides and a ladies side.
They finished runners-up in Division Two in 2011, but because of the restructuring of the league ready for the 2012 season they have been promoted to Division One, but their seconds will play in Division Two. All the teamsvplay out of the prestigious Bath University 50m swimming pool.
The university say: "We field a first team for both Men and Women every year, varying in quality depending on the influx of students, but the standard is generally good. That said, the club is very open to beginners and even people with no swimming experience at all, myself being one of them! Due to the continuous growth of the club over recent years, we are hoping to have the first ever Second team. This will give great opportunities to much more of the club to get in the pool and get some match time under their belt.
We compete in the BUCS (British University and College Sport) and also play in the Bristol and West Leagues as well as the newly formed Southern Universities Polo League."
Training: The University owns a 50 meter pool which the girls and boys teams share during each session. There is also a smaller 25 meter pool that is made available as often as possible. Training is every Monday night at 9pm, as well as alternating Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Bath Social
The Waterpolo club is a friendly competitive club for both men and women. The club competes in BUSA, the Bristol and West league, U-polo, as well as various tournaments throughout the year.
Renowned for its legendary pub-crawls, the themed social events are always well attended with a broad range of people from all courses and ages. Each year we jet off to Spain (Salou) for an action packed few days of sun, sea, sangria and of course lots of water polo.
Building a strong team spirit from this social base and lots of hard training has resulted in 2008/9 being one of the most successful years to date. we include land excersise in our training to keep our fitness levels up as well as our swim fitness. We usually have a few spontaneous socials based around the training sessions as well as major planned ones to encouraged everyone to go and to reward all our hard work.
To play ideally you should be a confident swimmer but there is no need to have played before you join. Come and see us at any of the sessions for more information.
